Ruby Tuesday – Seafood Festival

Aug 20: Had ‘Mixed Grill’ from Ruby Tuesday – Limited time Seafood Festival Menu. It was delicious.
A trio of your favorites. Jumbo shrimp brushed with peach bourbon barbecue sauce, grilled sirloin steak* topped with garlic butter, and blackened chicken with mango salsa. Served over a bed of brown-rice pilaf with your choice of side.

Review
* ( 5*) Brown Rice with green and red peppers is nice and flavorful.
* (2*) Steak – Well Done. Was bit dry and chewy
* (5*) Shrimp – Boiled with Peach BBQ Sauce is simple. Shrimp has no seafood smell at all.
* (5*) Chicken – Nicely done, looks like pan seared. Mango salsa does not too much intense mango flavor, they way I like.
* (5*) Portion Size – If you try to complete brown rice with a side, it will be too much, otherwise perfect portion size.
* Beer – Seasonal Sam Adams Summer Ale – Crisp with very slight citrus flavor like that mentioned on site. Had Blue Moon, some seasonal Winter beer as well. Not much flavor at all. Felt like drinking water.

Exercise at Office

TL;DR – To get daily bit of exercise at office, use the restroom that is 3 floors above/below your floor or a building away and find stairs to use both ways, for every restroom use. Good excuse to munch on an extra Snicker Bar 😀

Exercise at Office

Lots of websites suggest you take a break every 1/2 hr or 1hr for a walk around to get daily bit of exercise at the office. We often forget or in meetings. How to do we still get the daily bit of exercise??

Instead of using the restroom on the same floor as your cube is on, use the one on 3 or 4 floors above/below your office floor. ooohh, btw.. the point here is to use the stairs (both ways).

If there are only two floors in your building, use the restroom on the other end of the building. Go up/down 1 floor, walk across, then go down/up one floor.

In my case, I am on 5th, I use the one on 2nd floor, and use the stairs (both ways) every time I need to use the restroom.

Initially you will forget to follow this method, but slowly you will realize to use the other restroom.

Main advantage with this process, is you don’t need a reminder to get out of your chair to get daily exercise. Your body tells you to move. You just added exercise to your daily routine.

PS: Please use your judgement when following this routine, based on the urgency of the situation.

Eclipse SVN Dropbox Setup

  1. Download and Install SVN Plugin for Eclipse – subclipse – http://subclipse.tigris.org/
  2. Create New Repository (I created in Dropbox folder)
    • cd ~/Dropbox/
    • svnadmin create svnrep
  3. Import existing project and archive imported project
    • svn import ~/projects/YourProject file:///path/to/home/Dropbox/svnrep/YourProject -m 'Initial Import'
    • mkdir -p ~/projects/archive; mv ~/projects/YourProject ~/projects/archive
  4. To Delete (If you want to start over)
    • svn delete -m 'Deleting' file:///path/to/home/Dropbox/svnrep/YourProject
  5. In Eclipse SVN Perspective, add Repository
    • Add Repository URL file:///path/to/home/Dropbox/svnrep
  6. Import Project from SVN to WorkSpace
    • I usually import into ~/projects folder
  7. Right click on file/project, -> team -> SVN option, and use appropriate one.
  8. Tip:
    • Create Eclipse WorkSpace in Dropbox folder as well.
    • Not sure, if Eclipse updates .metadata folder, for every save I do. Either way, I usually disable sync, when I work.
    • Enable sync after you are done for the day and before shutting down/logging off.

Ubuntu 11.04 Switch from Unity to Ubuntu Classic

** No uninstall of Ubuntu Unity Required**

At login screen, select User to login. Options show up at the bottom of the screen.
Select Ubuntu Classic. So much better.. like Windows Classic XP (Never liked Win2000 Theme).

To make Ubuntu Classic default, go to System -> Administration -> Login Screen.

Unlock with root pw, select Ubuntu Classic.

PS: Win 7 theme and fonts rock. Please show me a Ubuntu theme and fonts pack thats better than that of Win7.

Ubuntu Install – will not Boot/No Boot loader/GRUB

New install of Ubuntu 10.10 (after many tries and finally erasing hard drive with killdisk – www.killdisk.com), BIOS was unable to locate Grub.
Have to do the following to get Boot loader. O God…. Ubuntu should fix this…

BTW… Get Android fonts.. they are far better.

Ubuntu – No Bluetooth Applet, No Adapters Found message

No Bluetooth Applet, No Adapters Found message. Executing ‘sudo /etc/init.d/bluetooth restart’ did not do any good.

On my laptop, I have turn off the wireless button (physically push the button on laptop), and then turn it on. Thats when Bluetooth Applet showed up on Ubuntu Panel.

Left clicked on the applet, selected ‘Setup New Device’, activated my other Bluetooth device and followed instructions on Ubuntu Bluetooth Applet.
